Today, both Warren and I are sick. He seems ok with it for the most part — though he’s in bed for a third nap already and he’s been pretty darn grouchy today. It fits, because so have I. I should be using this third nap to nap myself, but I made more coffee, and those two things are incompatible.
The cloth diapering is going well. It was such a blessing for Alita to pass all of those diapers on to us — the startup cost was so low! So every time I change a cloth diaper, I have all sorts of positive feelings — about the decreased amount of garbage in our lives, and about how I’m putting off the next diaper purchase every time. I mean, we’ll take disposables to France, and I’ve got them in the diaper bag for babysitters and stuff, but that’s about it. On the messy end of it, I’d say it’s like cleaning up after diaper explosions … you have to rinse out the clothes and stuff anyways … this is just a diaper instead. It doesn’t feel that much messier.
I think we’re less than 5 weeks away from our France trip now. It’s very exciting, of course. We’ve got our Star Pirates meet all set up for one afternoon, and a lunch with the Grandparents one day too. Throw in the party on the Saturday and we’re all busied up. We’re excited to be able to bring the kids to see their great-grandparents. The plane rides are still looking pretty daunting, but like I said to Andre: “Time always passes. The thing about the trip, no matter how bad it seems to be going, is that it will indeed end.” And who better to travel with than Andre? He’s, like, my favourite person.
I had to miss Alpha at church last night because of Warren’s puking. How’d it go? Anyone? I was sad to miss it. It’s a great course – good stuff to go over any time.
Warren’s plaything of the day today is a bowl of dried chickpeas and an empty egg carton. Let the fun continue!
Last weekend, we were up on the Coast to visit Andre’s parents. They had planned a baby celebration for Saturday afternoon, so their church family and friens could come by and meet Xavier. A lot of people ended up being out of town, but we got in a good visit with a few people we hadn’t seen in ages. All in all, it was a fantastic way to spend a weekend. I missed Stef and Sandrine though, and then I realized we’ve run out of chances to all hang out as a family (all 9 of us!) up on the coast — once the B and B season starts, we can’t really descend on the place in a crowd. We’ll probably get some time in together in France, I’m guessing.
S’all I’ve got.
With a subject line like that, here I thought you were going to write about how you’ve discovered the awesome Jamaican fizzy grapefruit drink, and a good source for large quantities of it in Vancouver without having to pick it up by the bottle at great expense at The Reef or Rehanah’s Roti.
…and I was sadly disappointed.
